The Great British Gin Festival

Exeter Corn Exchange11th August (1-10pm)

The UK’s biggest Gin Festival is touring this summer, bringing over 100 different gins from around the world to Exeter. Sample exclusive gins, watch cocktail masterclasses and meet the gin distillers in person, whilst enjoying live music and great food. There’s even a virtual reality gin distillery experience, and an opportunity to take home 25ml test tubes of your favourite flavours for later!

Sidmouth Open-Air Cinema – The Greatest Showman

Blackmore Gardens, Sidmouth – 21st August (9pm)

Experience one of the year’s most joyous and visually stunning films in the open-air. The Greatest Showman is an original musical with an incredible soundtrack, telling the true-story of a visionary who created a world-famous spectacle. Food stalls and a bar will provide refreshments for this enjoyable summer evening.

Shakespeare in the Courtyard

Powderham Castle – 15th August (6pm)

To inject some culture into your summer calendar, visit Powderham Castle to enjoy an open-air performance of A Winter’s Tale. Bring your own picnic to tuck into whilst watching one of Shakespeare’s later romantic comedies, with themes of jealousy, revenge, romance and discovery, set in a fantasy world of monsters and gods.

Exeter 7s at Sandy Park

Sandy Park – 7-8th July

The final leg of the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series is being held at Sandy Park for the fourth year, with crowds from across the country expected to travel to witness the world-class two-day rugby tournament. This year’s instalment carries extra significance, since it is the final game for England Sevens before they compete in the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco just two weeks later.

Yoga on the Beach

Exmouth – Every Saturday from 19th May – 29th September

Every Saturday morning during summer, Flow Yoga Devon is holding inclusive, accessible to all-levels, yoga sessions on the beach, complete with the sound of real waves crashing against the sand. It’s difficult to think of a more relaxing activity to start your weekend. Just bring a mat or a beach towel and cross your fingers for good weather!

Saddles and Paddles

Exeter Quay

If you’re looking to be active this summer, why not hire a bike or canoe from Saddles and Paddles at the Quay? Enjoy a leisurely, picturesque paddle along the canal waters, or take a bike around the traffic-free cycle routes. You can hire them for just an hour or make a day out of it and stop for lunch at one of the many pubs along the routes.

Bikes are £10 for 3 hours, while the kayaks/canoes are a little pricier at £24 for 3 hours (£32 for a double).
