Special tells the coming of age of a gay man living with cerebral palsy. The semi-autobiographical comedy is written by Ryan O’Connell and also features him as the lead character. For some laughs and hopeful content check this out.

For fans of: Black Mirror, The Umbrella Academy, Orphan Black

In a world where there is another species of human being living amongst us, this sci-fi imagining from the Wachowskis is one of the most tender stories about how love can rise above war. With an incredibly diverse cast (and some of the best sex scenes ever), this show is trailblazing and underrated.

Gentleman Jack – BBC iPlayer

Set in 1832, Gentleman Jack depicts the life of tenacious Anne Lister. Based off her diaries written in secret code detailing her many lesbian affairs, follow the landowner as she disrupts the world that surrounds her.
