Halloween at Home

I think we can all agree that this year has been filled with enough horror to last us a lifetime; but the only way this nightmare could get worse, is by taking away my favourite time of the year. Halloween has been a fundamental holiday throughout my life and if you think I’m letting COVID-19 stop me from getting into the spooky spirit, you can think again. COVID-19 may have taken away my graduation, it may have taken away festivals and holidays abroad, but I will not let it affect how much effort I put into Halloween this year.

Despite the fact that there won’t be any house parties and clubs and pubs will close at 10pm, you can bet that I will be at home, dressed up in my best costume, and having a good old monster mash with my housemates. I’m looking forward to blaring out music as I do mine or my housemate’s make-up; swapping clothes with everyone whilst we try to figure out who we’re going to be for the evening. Whilst it’s not your typical house party or night out, you can bet that we will still be throwing questionable shapes and encouraging each other to have one too many bevs!

Not only will we be having a shindig for six on Saturday night, but we’ve been embracing the Halloween spirit since the beginning of October. In true stay-at-home fashion, we’ve been watching our favourite Halloween films with a selection of scary snacks and attempting to carve pumpkins that even Michelangelo would be proud of. We’ve even attempted our own murder mystery night!

So, whilst COVID may have halted the summer, there is no way I’m letting it fully halt autumn and especially not Halloween!
