As November draws to an end and the evenings are getting progressively darker and colder, I can’t help but open my Spotify playlist to the first track of Michael Bublé’s Christmas Album, ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’.

You may recognise the song from everyone’s Instagram and snapchat stories in the last couple of weeks as the backdrop to pictures of the Christmas market in the city centre. From this, you have only been exposed to a snippet of a truly magical song that I have been listening to on repeat every Christmas.

Bublé’s voice is like a magnetic pull, encouraging me to carry on listening. It is the first song in the album which feels like a Christmas themed novel, this song it’s opening chapter. The 30 second instrumental at the start feels like all my worries and stress surrounding university slip away as I fully submerge myself into this winter wonderland.

It makes the cold mornings walking to lectures bearable as I know that soon enough I will be with my family, listening to the whole album while decorating the Christmas tree back at home.
