RAZZ Blind Dates 2022: Hit or Miss?

During last week, RAZZ hosted a series of blind dates for Exeter student singles. Did our matchmaking skills lead to successful matches? Was friendship on the horizon? Or, were the dates a miss?

Anonymous headed to The Turk’s Head to meet her date. Was it a success?

What were you expecting from your date?

I was worried it would be awkward meeting a stranger but, I figured the worst-case scenario would be meeting someone and chatting for a bit: no pressure to keep talking if we don’t click.

What was the best thing about your date?

I was glad we found things to talk about. The introductory email was good for conversation topics and getting a vague sense of the person beforehand. I was relieved it wasn’t as tremendously awkward as I imagined it could be.

Participants’ matches were determined by a questionnaire and the answers were shared with each party to give them an idea about who they were meeting!

Were there any awkward moments?

There were a few instances of awkwardness as we didn’t have loads to talk about. He seemed tired.

What did you talk about?

Various things. Our jobs, old schools, trips abroad, etc. Just anecdotes, I suppose.

What do you think your date thought of you?

I’m not sure. Hopefully, I was just what he would have expected based on the initial form

Anonymous had an enjoyable date and the conversation seemed to flow! Can the same be said for Chloe Burluka’s date?

What were you expecting from the date?

Honestly, I went into the date with no expectations, apart from maybe getting a new friend.

What was the best thing about your date?

The conversation was good – we had a lot in common and it seemed to flow pretty much the whole time.

Were there any awkward moments?

I don’t think so, except maybe saying goodbye – but that’s awkward even with people you know well.

What did you talk about?

Literally everything – from family to food, films, and travel plans.
